We are a strong, widely respected advocate for Regional Economic Growth, Education, and Venture Capital Formation, and Entrepreneurs.  For example, a recent St. Louis Business Journal editorial challenged St. Louis, "to make as much of our brains as our brawn." Investing in Intellectual Capital, March 2, 2001

We responded with a length commentary.  What are we doing about intellectual capital?  St. Louis Business Journal, March 16, 2001. 

Lawrence Biondi S. President of Saint Louis University replied with a lengthy commentary,  The University as the Mind of its City, in the  St. Louis Business Journal of April 27, 2001 agreeing that our comments and ideas may have hit the mark.  President Biondi wrote:

Over the decades, more might have been made of this relationship intellectually by serving on a planning committee, such as that recommended by John L. Davidson in a response to the Journal's editorial. (Davidson suggests that we think about a Big Seven committee, comprised of the governments of Missouri and Illinois, the RCGA, the two state university systems, Washington University and Saint Louis University, to drive economic growth and development in this knowledge-based economy.) This committee may help to give the city more unity and direction to invest both monetary and intellectual capital wisely and perhaps some kind of joint planning effort would work well in the future.
